Following the completion of my studies in civil engineering at the University of Technology Graz with a special focus on construction management and economics, hydraulic construction and tunnel construction; and, after that, a stay in the USA, I began pursuing a career as Assistant Professor at the Institute for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering in Graz.

Between 1990 and 1993 I worked with A.S.A., Abfall Service Austria, as an authorized signatory and head of the construction division, responsible for environmental remediation and site selection for waste management facilities. An additional task was the establishment of contacts with the public.

In 1993 I moved to UEG, a public company operating in the fields of waste and environmental management. By setting up the subsidiary AEV, I developed UEG’s technical pillar to supplement the commercial activities of ADL. In the times of great optimism concerning waste and environmental engineering in Austria, I not only paid particular attention to technical aspects and municipal waste management, but also to human resource management in all of UEG’s subsidiaries, and I established management systems at seven sites of the UEG Group.

In September 2008 I turned my vocation into a profession and became a teacher at the HTBLVA Ortwein in Graz. I teach soil and hydraulic engineering and I regard myself as an education manager and service provider. My clients are my students.

In January 2010 I joined Mr. Christian Imboden as a contact person, especially in the districts of Deutschlandsberg and Leibnitz. In particular, I establish contact to both technical offices, SMEs operating in the fields of waste and environmental management, and companies in the tourism and food service industry. Subsequently, I support and advise them throughout the selling process.

Mr. Imboden then takes over to assist all through the purchasing phase from identification to the completion of the transaction.

After studying Business Administration and Law at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich (LMU), I continued at the Bundeswehr University of Munich in 1976, where I focused mainly on research. In 1982 I completed my doctoral thesis on General Management and Organisational Subjects, again at the LMU.

Also in 1982, I founded IOT Dr.Sorg Consulting. Since then I have been able to gain a great deal of experience in managing consulting projects in the fields of general management, marketing, planning and implementation.

Additionally, I have taught at various universities for more than 30 years. In 2004 I was appointed honorary professor at the Freie Universität (FU) Berlin, and from 2010 onwards I have been teaching at the Business School Potsdam (BSP, University of Applied Sciences).

While undergoing my training as a banker, I developed an emphatic and reliable approach to the data, facts and figures entrusted to me. Working with the very personal information of my clients and partners has been part of my professional life ever since.

I have had the opportunity to gain experience in the whole span of this discipline: from advising on financial investments and granting loans, to working as the branch manager of a large Bavarian bank, the former Bayrische Hypothekenbank.

After years of experience with mid-sized customers, a few years ago I decided to change to the field of M&A, i.e. to buying and selling companies.

The ability to identify complex correlations from which to obtain detailed overviews, my ability to skillfully negotiate and close deals at the right time all motivated me to take this next step.

There is something I have learned from my previous transactions: you never buy a company’s history, but the value of a company always is a result of future potential.

It is extremely motivating and fascinating for me to find companies which are compatible, and to close deals in a win-win situation. My daily work in this field provides me with a great deal of satisfaction.

After successfully completing my studies as graduate engineer, I have worked for 20 years in the automobile supply industry. My fields of activity included management functions in development, sales and marketing, and, at last, I worked in the top management as production manager with about 3,000 employees and global profit responsibility. I have worked on all continents of the world which helped me to continuously develop my global understanding of production procedures, processes and structures.

Issues such as reorganization, new orientation, warranty management or the sale of product lines in Europe as asset and share deal were accompanying me throughout.

In 2008, I decided to contribute my experience and my knowledge in a completely different form. My professional career was always characterized by a central theme, i.e. the development of people and business.

VeMEMaS is nowadays a company with 8 employees consisting of internal and external consultants looking after its customers and their issues with great commitment. After graduating in Business Administration and living abroad in Paris, I held various management and consultancy positions: until 1999 with UBS AG in Switzerland, afterwards with COMIT AG - a service provider in the financial industry, now an association of the Swisscom AG, and then with TKS-Teknosoft AG in Switzerland - a service provider and software producer for the financial industry, currently a member of the Indian Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, and after that with moneyfruits AG (an independant provider of financial services) and R.W.R. GmbH, a consultant for government and private grants in Austria. Since 2003 I have worked as a freelancer in the M&A field.

Between 2004 and 2009 I was the partner of two German M&A networks in Austria and Switzerland. In the years 2007 and 2008 I was the Chairman of the Board of an independent financial service provider.

I especially focus on advising shareholders and Austrian corporations throughout the entire buying or selling process from the identification stage right through to the completion of the transaction. The ownership structure of corporations guaranties necessary independance (no influence of commercial banks, no vested intersets from industries, etc.)
